The blockade had severely impacted daily life in Gaza, leading to a fuel shortage and the shutdown of the only power plant. Israel also resumed railway services and allowed citizens near Gaza to leave shelters. The ceasefire was mediated by Egypt, which also committed to negotiating the release of two Palestinian prisoners. Both parties reserved the right to respond to future attacks.
