However, fewer than 10% of students in OECD countries could distinguish between fact and opinion. Historically, students relied on textbooks for clear answers, but now they need strong skills to navigate online information. Notably, countries like Albania, Moldova, Peru, and Qatar are rapidly improving their education systems. A significant gap exists in reading performance between the most advantaged and disadvantaged students, equating to over four years of schooling.
