The Brazilian police destroyed 4,000 weapons collected over two years in Rio de Janeiro, as part of a disarmament campaign. These weapons were surrendered by the public or seized during various police operations. The destruction process is challenging due to extensive borders that facilitate weapon smuggling. Despite these challenges, the police remain committed to preventing weapons from reaching criminals. Recently, 60 illegal rifles were found at the airport, hidden in a shipment from Miami, valued at 1.5 million dollars.
