VOICED : Venezuela cambia armas por electrodomesticos en plan de desarme

In Caracas, the Venezuelan government initiated a disarmament plan where citizens exchanged household appliances like ovens and microwaves for weapons. A total of 80 items were exchanged, and the collected weapons were destroyed using a hydraulic press. Since the start of the initiative, 1,130 people have voluntarily surrendered their weapons, contributing to the destruction of 18,294 firearms this year. The government aims to reduce violence in Venezuela, which recorded over 17,000 homicides in 2015, with a homicide rate significantly higher than the global average.
