Belgian Revolution - 3 Minute History

The video covers the history of Belgium from the early 18th century, when it was under Austrian control, through the French Revolution, and into the 19th century when it was ruled by the Dutch. Tensions between the Catholic, agrarian South and the Protestant, mercantile North led to unrest. The Belgian Revolution of 1830 was inspired by events in France, leading to the establishment of a provisional government. Despite European powers' concerns, Belgium moved towards independence, eventually establishing a constitutional monarchy with Leopold of Saxe-Coburg as king.
