A study published in JMA Network Open found that many supplements contain potentially harmful drugs, with 97.6% of ingredients not labeled on the products. Most contaminated drugs were found in supplements marketed for weight loss and sexual enhancement, with a smaller percentage in muscle-building supplements. Sildenafil, the active ingredient in Viagra, was the most common drug in sexual enhancement supplements, while subbutramine, a banned weight loss drug, was found in weight loss supplements.
