London's Future Landmark: The All-Glass Bridge

A new glass bridge, designed by Thomas Heatherwick, is set to be built in central London. The bridge features a walkway made of laminated glass pieces, held together with advanced adhesives, eliminating the need for a metal superstructure. Heatherwick's inspiration came from childhood experiences with so-called 'all glass' structures that relied on metal. The design won the Bombay Sapphire Prize for Excellence in Glass Design, providing funds for further innovative projects. Once completed, the illuminated bridge will enhance London's skyline.
