4 European Countries Have Lost Their Measles Elimination Status

The World Health Organization announced that measles is no longer considered eliminated in Albania, the Czech Republic, Greece, and the UK due to a surge in cases. Approximately 90,000 cases were reported in the first half of the year, compared to only 84 cases in the previous year. Misinformation about the measles vaccine is a significant issue, as stated by WHO officials. The CDC has also warned that the US might lose its measles elimination status if high immunization coverage is not maintained.
