A lichen is composed of cyanobacteria living within a fungus. Cyanobacteria are autotrophs that perform photosynthesis for the fungus while the fungus provides a home for the cyanobacteria.

Intestinal bacteria obtain nutrients from the gut of humans and produce vitamin K used by humans.

A remora is a fish that has an adhesive disc on its head that enables it to attach to the underside of a large shark. When food floats away from the shark's mouth as it feeds, the remora collects the scraps.
