This is when each night a person is able to see less of the Moon’s surface shining.

The first crewed Moon landing.  Other spacecraft had flown by, been purposefully crashed into the moon, or had landed on the Moon, but this was the first time people walked on the surface of the Moon.  The crew consisted of pilot Michael Collins, Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin, and Neil Armstrong.  Armstrong was the first person on the moon, Aldrin was the second.  Collins did not step on the Moon.

This mission was a launch and test flight of the space vehicle that will take astronauts to the moon.  It was launched on November 16, 2022.  This vehicle orbited the moon and returned to Earth.

This mission will have a crew of four astronauts that will perform a lunar (moon) flyby and return to Earth.  This is scheduled for November of 2024. 

This mission will land a crew on the Moon’s south polar region.  It is planned to have two astronauts spend a week on the Moon’s surface.  The mission will land the first woman on the Moon and the first person of color.

They appear as the regular rise and fall of an ocean’s surface.  They are the mainly the result of gravitational forces of the Moon.

A flat, dark plain of lower elevation on the Moon.  They are caused by lava flows that once happened on the Moon’s surface.
