Read the following passage and answer the questions that follow.

1 An Engineer is the team leader of an engineering team. Engineers plan, design and supervise engineering projects from concept to completion.  Engineers solve problems by relying on their creative and academic skills. In the simplest of terms, engineers are the problem solvers. They invent new technologies that revolutionize the way we handle information. They design and develop tools, toys, furniture, computers, and almost every other manufactured product that we use. They improve our buildings, roads, and vehicles. They develop systems to clean our water, process our foods, make our fuels burn more efficiently, and recycle our waste.

2 Engineers use the knowledge of mathematics and natural sciences gained by study, experience, and practice. They take basic science information and use the rules of mathematics to solve problems and design new products. A minimum of four years of study is required to become an engineer. Many engineers, however, do go on for a master's degree in order to move into high level management positions. An engineering degree can also open doors to other professions such as medicine, business administration, law, computer development, etc. Engineers tend to earn the highest salaries of any electronics occupation.

3 Technicians are doers and implementers. They focus on the practical elements of a job. They provide technical assistance in specialized areas, and perform the day-to-day tasks required in carrying out a project. Technicians usually work as part of a team in a particular operation.

4 Technicians work with equipment. Primarily they install and test component parts of devices or systems. They generally follow procedures developed by engineers. They assemble, repair, and make improvements to technical equipment by learning its characteristics, unlike engineers, who study the scientific or engineering basis for its original design. As a group, they are important individuals in problem solving. Their job has a more hands-on focus. They work in laboratories and factories where they set up experiments, accumulate engineering data, and service or repair equipment. Two years of college-level work leading to an associate degree, typically offered at community colleges or technical institutes, is required to become a technician.
