Light is absorbed by the Photosystem II (680) exciting an electron. This electron then reaches the reaction center and is transferred through the cytochrome complex. Water is then split to replace the electron lost. As the electron moves some of the energy is used to pump protons (H+) from outside to inside. Then light is absorbed by photosystem I (700) and it takes the electron to an even higher energy state. It is then passed to NADP+ (oxidized) and turns into NADPH (reduced). As you pump protons you create a charge and using oxidative phosphorylation you can make some ATP.
