It is going to be very important for you to know and understand the decimal place value.
Today you will practice writing decimals in word form and taking decimals written in word form and writing them in number form.

How to Write Decimals in Word Form
You have to use the number in the farthest right place to name you decimal.
For example 0.65 -The five is the farthest right place and it is in the hundredths place so you would write this as Sixty Five hundredths.
The same would go for 0.08 - The eight is the farthest right number and it is in the hundredths place so you would label it eight hundredths.

Decimals with Whole Numbers
You can also write decimals that have whole numbers. You use the word AND in place of the decimal.
For example 543.88 would be written as five hundred fourty three and eighty eight hundredths.

From word form to decimal form
Be sure to pay close attention to the "th" in the words. This will tell you if it is part of the decimal or the whole number. Hundred would be in the whole number, but hundredth would be part of the decimal.
For example, fifty seven and three hundred fourty seven thousandths would be written as 57.347.
Use the and to tell you where to place the decimal.
