All of the Above

7

A Person

A noun can be a person. This could mean multiple things. Ella is a person. The name is Ella is actually called a proper noun. We'll learn about that later. The word "teacher" is a noun, too, because a teacher is a person. It is not a specific person, but it is a person.

8

A Place

A place is a noun. Just like with a person, a place could be general or it could be specific. A specific noun would be, "Lake Kegonsa". A general noun would be like "the beach". There are many beaches and there is only one (I think) Lake Kegonsa.

9

A thing

A thing is also a noun. By "thing" I mean an object. A few examples include, "blanket", "cup", "car", "sock", and "table". These are all objects which makes them a noun.

10

An Idea/Concept

An idea or concept is also a noun. This one is a little more tricky than the others. The word idea is an idea/concept, which makes it a noun. The most common concept/idea that most people think of is "sleep". We can't physically touch sleep so it is not an object. Sleep can also be a verb so watch out how you use it. Saying I will sleep is a verb but saying I need sleep makes it an idea.

Wrap-Up

Today we learned that there are many parts of speech. We focused on nouns. Nouns are a person, place, thing, or idea. We use nouns in our language all the time! Even YOU are a noun!
