What we need to know first...

  • Subject is the "main character" of a sentence

  • It does the actions and the sentence revolves around it

  • I have learned so much about English today already

  • The students flooded the halls when they heard the bell ring.

  • Before class was over, the teacher was pranked by the students

What are linking verbs?

  • Verb that joins or links the subject with the subject complement

  • Verb that has no action or cannot be an action

  • Subject complement is either a word or a group of words that describes the subject more, ALWAYS FOLLOWS A LINKING VERB

  • Can either be a noun or adjective
