6A Superlative

Using the Superlative

Saying the least/most of something.​

Formula: el/la/los/las (definite articles + noun + mas/menos + adjective ​

Ex: Luisa is the most daring girl.

Luisa es la chica mas atrevida.

Using "de" for Groups

When saying the most/least of something in a group, use "de"​

Ex: The painting is the ugliest thing in the house.

​El cuadro es la cosa más fea de la clase.

​

Ex: The dresser is the least important thing in the room.

La cómoda es la cosa menos importante del dormitorio.

Irregular Superlatives

The irregular adjectives for Comparisons are irregular for the Superlative as well.

• Mejor= best

• Peor=worst

• Mayor=oldest

• Menor= youngest

Irregular Superlative Examples

• The lamp is the worst thing in the house.

• La lámpara es la peor cosa de la casa.

Omitting the Noun

Just like in English, the noun can be omitted. All of the following are correct. 

Formula: definite article (el/la/los/la) + adjective
