Why do authors include text and graphic features in the stories / articles that they write?

Search for text and graphic features within the text.

Text features: labels

Labels are used to point out certain information. You will see arrows pointing out the information that the author wants you to understand.

Text feature: boldface words

words that are in bold are darker than the words around it.

Headings looks like titles, but they are not. The heading will tell you what the section will be about.

Tables are included within the text to tell us more information of the data that is collected

Graph: Data/ information that was gathered is presented in a graph.
