Definitin of Review

Review text is an evaluation of a publication, such as a movie, video game, musical composition, book; a piece of hardware like a car, home appliance, or computer; or an event or performance, such as a live music concert, a play, musical theatre show or dance show.

Teks review adalah evaluasi suatu publikasi, seperti film, video game, komposisi musik, buku; sebuah perangkat keras seperti mobil, peralatan rumah tangga, atau komputer; atau acara atau pertunjukan, seperti konser musik langsung, drama, pertunjukan teater musikal, atau pertunjukan tari.

Social Function

Review text is used to criticise an art work, event for a public audience / to evaluate or review the events or art works for the reader or listener, such as movies, shows, book, and others.(melakukan kritik terhadap peristiwa atau karya seni ataupun lainnya untuk khalayak umum).

Generic Structure

• Orientation/Introduction (Background information of the text).

  Di bagian ini, Anda harus menuliskan sebuah preview atau gambaran umum mengenai sebuah karya atau benda yang akan Anda tinjau atau nilai di dalam review text tersebut. Gambaran umum merupakan informasi spesifik mengenai karya atau benda tersebut, seperti nama karya atau benda, kegunaan karya atau benda, dan sebagainya.

Generic structure

• Evaluation (Concluding statement : judgement, opinion, or recommendation. It can consist ot more than one).

  Di dalam bagian ini Anda bisa masuk lebih detail dan lebih dalam. Sesuai dengan namanya, bagian ini adalah bagian dimana Anda bisa memberikan evaluasi. Di dalam bagian ini, Anda bisamemberikan gambaran yang lebih mendetail mengenai suatu karya atau benda yang akan Anda nilai atau review. Hal yang bisa Anda tulis di bagian ini adalah berupa bagian-bagiannya, keunikan ataupun kualitasnya. Tapi yang berhubungan dengan fakta tanpa memasukkan pendapat pribadi Anda.

  Setelah menulis evaluasi yang cukup di bagian sebelumnya, pada bagian ini, waktunya Anda menuliskan pandangan atau pendapat pribadi Anda mengenai karya atau benda yang Anda tulis atau yang Anda review. Pada bagian interpretation ini Anda bisa melakukan sebuah evaluasi terhadap karya atau benda dari sudut pandang Anda. Anda juga bisa membandingkan karya atau benda yang Anda tinjau dengan karya atau benda lain yangs erupa untuk lebih dapat mendukung dan memperkuat pandangan Anda terhadap karya atau benda yang Anda nilai.

  Di struktur terakhir, Anda sebagai penulis dapat memberikan kesimpulan pada bagian terakhir dari Review text. Setelah Anda memberikan evaluasi yang mendetai di bagian evaluasi dan memberikan pandangan Anda terhadap karya atau benda tersebut di bagian interpretation, di bagian ini Anda bisa menjelaskan apakah karya atau benda yang direviewnya berharga atau tidak untuk calon pembeli yaitu pembaca. Atau apakah harga yang ditawarkan sesuai dnegan kualitasnya, atau jika yang di review merupakan film atau lagu, apakah akan worth it untuk di tonton atau di dengar.

Language Feature

• Menggunakan present tense.

• Menggunakan Adjectives seperti bad, good, valuable, dll

• Menggunakan long and complex clauses

• Menggunakan metafora di dalam review.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince Movie Review

Orientation / Introduction

All and each Harry Potter series both movies and book hold a particular part in my heart. And by that means, I love it all. No, I won't talk about the whole series, I could end up with one new book if I did, so only for specific the 6th series of Harry Potter movie, Harry Potter and the Half of Blood Prince.

Evaluation

Evaluation 1:

May slightly unsatisfying for those who read the book.

Evaluation 2:

It's a dark time for Harry. It's like a cup of hot cocoa on your cold morning, but your cat breaks the cup.

Interpretative Recount

Harry Potter books have been a hit and been more potent since the Warner Bros decide to bring it to life through a movie. One or two changes from the text in the film is undeniable. We all know Harry has to feel one more lost on the last movie because Bellatrix killed his God-father, Sirius Black after they talk about lives together in an entirely safe village far from anywhere. Sure it's like a thunder strikes on the midday for Harry.

Interpretative recount

As we always want for Harry happiness, many have hope that everything he's been through will paid on the Half-Blood Prince. At the first hour of this movie, we can see Harry doing great for his Potion class even beat Hermione, thanks to the book previously owned by The Half-Blood Prince he found at the bottom of the cupboard.

But another dreary, depressing feel once again must we see on this movie as Dumbledore fall from the attic after being Avada Kedavra by his trusted man, Severus Snape aka the Half-Blood Prince. Not many things from the book were adapted. Instead, it almost entirely different. After the movie was released, you can hear some voice of disappointment roaring from some of the fans, including me.

Evaluative Summation

Nevertheless, this is still an excellent movie to watch and of course worth your time. 7 starts out of 10 for the Half-Blood Prince! Worry not because every question and every scene missed in this movie will be soon explained on Deathly Hallows.

CAPTAIN PHILLIPS

Captain Phillips is an upcoming 2013 American biographical action thriller film directed by Paul Greengrass based upon the book, A Captain's Duty: Somali Pirates, Navy SEALs, and Dangerous days at Sea, by Richard Phillips with Stephan Tatty, and starring Tom Hanks. It is produced by Scott Rudin, Dana Brunetti, and Michael De Luca. The film tells a biopic of merchant mariner Captain Richard Phillips, who was taken hostage for several days by Somali Pirates when the container ship Maersk Alabama which sailed from southern Oman drown along the coast of Somalia and then to Kenya was hijacked in 2009.

Captain Richard Phillips (Tom Hanks), a veteran merchant mariner, still lives in his native New England, and he's a plainspoken family man full of anxiety about the economically bleak new world his kids are facing. When his wife (Chaterine Keener) drops him off at the airport, we can see reverse her. The film then cuts to Somalia, a land of dust and poverty, where the pirates are recruited for their mission as if they were migrant farm workers lining up to be chosen for that day's labor. Green grass doesn't have to fill in much about the violent, chaotic breakdown of Somalia to let us know that these men have little choice.

The film does not generate quite the same level of excruciating suspense as some of Greengrass' previous triumphs, but it nonetheless holds us hostage as it proceeds. As for the four Somali immigrants, they are remarkably effective in their first professional acting gigs.
