What are the 4 types of river erosion?

21

Multiple Choice

River erosion: This process involves the force of water against the bed and the banks

1

abrasion/corrasion

2

Hydraulic action

3

Attrition

4

Corrosion

22

Multiple Choice

River erosion: This is the process by which the bed and the banks are worn down by the rivers load.

1

Hydraulic action

2

Attrition

3

Corrosion

4

Abrasion/corrasion

23

Multiple Choice

River erosion: Materials bump into each other and are smoothed over time as they move down the river.

1

Hydraulic action

2

abrasion/corrasion

3

Corrosion

4

Attrition

24

Multiple Choice

River erosion: Chemical acton of the river water. Acidic nature of the water slowly dissolves materials over time.

water cycle

  • Evaporation: occurs when the physical state of water is changed from a liquid state to a gaseous state.

  • Condensation is the process by which water vapour changes it's physical state from a vapour, most commonly, to a liquid. Water vapour condenses onto small airborne particles to form dew, fog, or clouds.

  • Precipitation is the process that occurs when any and all forms of water particles fall from the atmosphere and reach the ground.

45

water cycle

  • Interception is the process of interrupting the movement of water in the chain of transportation events leading to streams.

  • Percolation is the movement of water though the soil, and it's layers, by gravity and capillary forces.

  • Transpiration is the biological process that occurs mostly in the day. Water inside of plants is transferred from the plant to the atmosphere as water vapour through numerous individual leave openings.

  • Runoff is flow from a drainage basin or watershed that appears in surface streams.

48

Drainage basin

A drainage basin is any area of land where precipitation collects and drains off into a common outlet, such as into a river, bay, or other body of water.
