SWBAT make questions using the past tense "did" and Wh- question words.

Sentence Structure

Did + Subject+ Main Verb

Identify the subject and main verb in the following examples:

Did you like the movie?

Did She win the game?

Did he go to Brazil?

Did I do that?

Did we take the test yet?

Notice what is happening to the main verb when we use did:

do we have to change it to agree with the subject?

This is called the Bare Stem of the verb:

To swim = swim

To eat = eat

To cheat = cheat

"did" is considered a "helping verb" sometimes we used the helping verb "to be" was/were instead.

• we never use did/was were in the same question.
