In Spanish the verb "to be" can be expressed two ways

Verbo : Ser - to be

• tells the permanent characteristic or descriptions of a noun ( person, place, or thing)

SER

Yo soy

tú eres

usted es

él/ella es

nosotros somos

vosotros sois

ustedes son

ellos/ellas son

Verbo : Estar- to be

• tells the temporary feeling or condition of a noun ( person, place, or thing)

• describes a place

ESTAR

Yo estoy

tú/usted estás

él/ella está

nosotros estamos

vosotros estáis

ustedes estan

ellos/ellas están
