Slide One, What are fractions?
A fraction (from Latin fractus, "broken") represents a part of a whole or, more generally, any number of equal parts. When spoken in everyday English, a fraction describes how many parts of a certain size there are, for example, one-half, eight-fifths, three-quarters. A common, vulgar, or simple fraction (examples: 1/2 and 17/3) consists of a numerator displayed above a line (or before a slash), and a non-zero denominator, displayed below (or after) that line.

Here is what is called a fraction chart. It explains all the fractions there are.
4
What is an equal fraction and an unequal fraction?
An unequal fraction is when two fractions are said to be unequal to each other if their lowest forms are not equal to each other
Equivalent fractions are different fractions that name the same number. The numerator and the denominator of a fraction must be multiplied by the same nonzero whole number in order to have equivalent fractions.
