Task 6: Who wants what?

The next slide shows the findings from a UK survey which asked a group of men and women which items they most wanted (to maximise their happiness).

Some of the items belonged to the top 10 list for women, some belonged to the top 10 list for men and some belonged to both lists.

Your task is to work out which items were wanted only by women, only by men and which were wanted by both men and women.

Cost of Living Task

Could you survive on a budget of £10 per day?

Your task is to 'buy' yourself enough food to last a day.  If you have enough money left at the end of the day you will be able to have a ‘treat’!

25

Research Task

Use supermarket websites (Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Asda, and Morrison’s etc) to 'buy' yourself food for the day.  The rules are:

1. You have a maximum of £10 to spend.

2. A well balanced diet is required, including a range of vitamins and minerals, so at least 5 portions of fruit/vegetables are required.

3. You are not allowed to buy ready meals.  You need to make the meals yourself.

Write down what you have chosen to have for each meal. (Example on the next slide). Also write down the cost of each item.

This information will be used for a spreadsheet task later.
