• Convert measurements using ratio reasoning and multiple steps.

• a method for converting between units that uses one or more unit conversion factors

• Write the original measurement as a fraction.

• Multiply by the first conversion factor

• Multiply by the second conversion factor

• Simplify

Steps in Deminsional Analysis

50,400 seconds = how many hours?

• Write the original measurement as a fraction.  $\frac{50,400}{1}$   

• Multiply by the first conversion factor  $\frac{50,400s}{1}\cdot\frac{1\min}{60s}$  

• Multiply by the second conversion factor $\frac{50,400}{1}\cdot\frac{1\min}{60}\cdot\frac{1h}{60\min}$  

• Simplify  $\frac{50,400h}{3600\min}=\frac{14h}{1\min}=14h$
