• An adjective is used to describe a NOUN.

• An adverb is used to describe a VERB.

In French, most adverbs are formed by going to the FEMININE form of the adjective and adding -MENT.

For example...

lent (slow) becomes lentement (slowly)

fort (strong) becomes fortement (strongly)

To compare things using adverbs you use the same formula as adjectives...

NOUN + VERB + PLUS/MOINS + ADVERB + QUE + NOUN

To compare things using bien, however, the adverb is MIEUX.   PLUS BIEN does not exist!!!

souvent : often

beaucoup : a lot

vite: quickly

toujours: always
