Multiple Choice

In the following example, what is the text structure?

San Antonio differs from Dover in weather, commerce, and personality. San Antonio is brisk to scorching. There is no ice or snow. A number of diverse restaurants are available and businesses in San Antonio abound. A heavy Hispanic influence can be felt, and there are many other cultural influences that fuse within the city. San Antonio offers opportunities for everyone. Dover is quite different. Although summers are sunny, winters can be frigid. Even though Dover is the state capitol, the business hub is located to its north. A handful of Dover’s merchants represent the historic culture. Dover families have been in the area for hundreds of years. Their power is held in their last names. San Antonio and and Dover, quite different in many respects, are both fine cities for young families and both warmly welcome the military guests at the Air Force bases located within their communities.

Multiple Choice

Three years ago, while walking home from school, he found a magic blanket. When he covered himself with it, he turned invisible. At first he used his power to play all kinds of tricks on people. Then he’d turn invisible and hide things, or move a cup when someone was pouring juice to make a mess. He had a lot of fun. But after a few months, he found that he couldn’t take the blanket off. He was just stuck invisible. Meanwhile, he quit playing tricks on people, hoping that he’d be able to take the blanket off and rejoin society, but it didn’t work. Years later, he is still invisible somewhere right now, and he is very lonely.

Multiple Choice

Football and baseball are two of the most popular sports in the country. They are similar in some ways. For one, they are both team sports, and they both require players to advance to an end or “home” point on the playing field. However, football, unlike baseball requires players to carry the ball to the end zone, while in baseball, it is the defending team that controls the ball while it is in play.

Poll

Many students have been getting low scores on tests and this is upsetting to parents, teachers, and students. Low test scores show that teachers aren’t teaching effectively or that students aren’t learning. Either way it’s an issue with which we are concerned. I propose the following: any teacher who is giving a test should open up their classroom for study groups the night and morning before the test. Maybe by giving students extra opportunities to study, we can improve students’ test scores.

Multiple Choice

Being involved in after school sports and clubs is not a right. It is a privilege. Therefore, students have to meet eligibility requirements. If students have any “D”s or “F”s, then they are not allowed to play. Also, if students have behavior issues in class, they cannot be on the team or in the club. students need to keep good attendance. Consequently, If students miss school, they most certainly cannot come to practice. Being on a team is a lot of responsibility.

Poll

Ocelots are a species of the cat family found only in Texas and Mexico. This species is on the brink of extinction due to human interaction. Humans have destroyed large tracts of land that are home to ocelots. New highways run through what used to be tranquil ocelot habitat. These highways are killing ocelots at an alarming rate. Luckily, there is a solution. Wildlife bridges are special grassy structures that span highways and provide animals with safe access to previously unavailable areas. Successful wildlife bridges have been constructed in many parts of the world. Researchers in Texas tag ocelots ears and install cameras along the bridges to calculate how many ocelots are saved. The success so far has been overwhelming. At one point, the entire ocelot species had dwindled to less than 80. Today, thanks in part to wildlife bridges, ocelots are seeing steady increases in population.
