What are prepositions?

They are words which have an effect, and usually go before, a noun or pronoun.

They are JOINING words.

They express a relation to another word or element in the clause.

E.g.‘the man on the platform’, ‘she arrived after dinner’, ‘what did you do that for?’.

Why do we use prepositions of manner and method?

• They show us how a particular thing has happened or what was used during that action.

• The preposition of manner is also known as a preposition of styles.

• The way something is written or said can show if it is aggressive, friendly, to the point or round about.
