What is a stem-changing verb?
All verbs are conjugated by changing the ending (-ar, -er, -ir), but some verbs also require a small spelling change in the stem (main part) in certain conjugations. They still use the regular endings that we have used before.

Boot verbs
Stem-changing verbs are sometimes called "boot verbs" because the spelling changes only take place in 4 places - yo, tú, él/ella/Ud., and ellos/ellas/Uds..
