Prefixes are letters which we add to the beginning of a word to make a new word with a different meaning

3

FOR EXAMPLE:

GRADE. We add the letters "UP" and we have a new word: "UPGRADE"

4

GRADE:

1. A particular level of rank, quality, proficiency, intensity, or value.

2. A mark indicating the quality of a student's work.

5

UPGRADE:

1. Raise (something) to a higher standard, in particular improve (equipment or machinery) by adding or replacing components

6

But

Sometimes we have NEGATIVE prefixes.

7
