Matter changes all the time; some are big and some are small.

Two kinds of changes:

Physical or chemical

Physical Change

• Physical Change

• Result in a change of state

• Has the same properties as original

• You can get it back to its original form easily

Chemical Change

• One or more new substances are formed

• New substance is different from original with different properties

• You can not get the original materials back easily or at all

• 
  

Clues to a chemical change

• new color appears

• heat or light is given off

• bubbles of a gas are given off

•  precipitate (solid) is formed

• The change is difficult or impossible to reverse
