Meteorology 4d
Fronts, Air Mass, Air Pressure

2
Hurricanes Formation
As ocean water warms, some of this water evaporates and transfers thermal energy into the atmosphere.
The water vapor then cools and condenses to form clouds. The increase in water vapor raises the humidity, and the transfer of thermal energy raises the temperature.
3
Hurricanes are large, tropical weather systems with an extremely low barometric pressure (air pressure), heavy rains, and high wind speeds.
4
AKS 4e: Hurricanes
5
Hurricanes gather heat and energy through contact with warm ocean waters.
As the surface warms, more water evaporates and rises which fuels the system, and increases the strength of the storm.
Global wind systems are responsible for carrying hurricanes along their path.
Once a hurricane moves into colder waters or over land, it decreases in strength because it no longer has a source of energy.
