But...

a number of verbs in German do not follow the regular patterns of conjugation.

They undergo a change in the du and er/sie/es forms.

Two groups:

1) changing from a to ä

2) changing from e to i (or ie)

Good news! The verb endings still follow the pattern of regular verbs (esttenten)!
