• Despite knowing the fact that Hazrat Ali (a.s.) is the most superior of all the companions of Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.), the companions did not take him (as) as the caliph.

• The scholars who came after them have also recorded the numerous virtues of H Ali (a.s.) which makes him superior.

• There are at least 86 verses in the Holy Quran extolling the virtues of Hazrat Ali b. Abi Talib (a.s.) and the traditions on this subject cannot be counted.

• This incident helps us know the definition of Ahlul Bait

• It helps us understand the status of those included in the delegation

• Wives were not included for Mubahela

• This verse is an independent and sufficient proof of Caliphate of Hazrat Ali (a.s.)

• Imam Hasan (a.s.) and Imam Husain (a.s.) are called Sons of Holy Prophet (s.a.w.w.) though they were grandsons. That is why we say in Ziyarat ”Assalamo Alayka yabna Rasolillah” based on this Verse

Conclusion

• The event of Mubahela clearly shows that Ali (as) is referred to as the 'Self' of Holy Prophet (sawa) in the Holy Quran

• Even some Ahle Tasannun historians have narrated this incident in the same way

• This verse and incident clearly prove that Imam Ali (as) was the most superior amongst the people and hence should've been their caliph
