Let's review
After an introductory phrase, use a comma (At the end of the book the main character makes a huge mistake.)
In simple sentences, you don't need a comma between 'and' and multiple verbs (Giraffes live in Africa and eat leaves.)
Make sure your sentence has a subject (Is part of a national park in Oregon.)
Make sure your sentences have a (complete) subject (There many ways to solve this problem.)

Let's review
In compound sentences, check for your coordinating conjunction (July is usually a month with a lot of rain, but this year it has been very dry.)
Avoid too many simple sentences --- join them using coordinating conjunctions (Zoo animals represent many different continents. Giraffes live in Africa, koalas are from Australia, and pandas are from Asia.)
Avoid starting a sentence with coordinating conjunctions (Spiders look dangerous. But they really just want to give you a kiss.)
