Unique Caves
Nature has most remarkable hidden places like caves, some of wich have amazing features. From glittering caves to crystal ones, all of them are really amazing so you should consider visiting at least one of them.
( ) The Reed Flute Cave is located in southern China. The cave got its name from the reeds growing outside it, wich can be made into fluets. The cave has stalactites, stalagmites, stone pillars, and rock formations in strange and wonderful shapes of birds, plants, and animals. Colored lighting illuminates the cave.
( ) Fingal's Cave on Staffa Island, in Scotland, is made entirely of interlocking hexagonal pillars of basalt formed by prehistoric lava flow and the sea. The cave has an arched roof that produces bizzare sounds made by the echoes of the waves. The roof gives the cave the atmosphere of a natural cathedral. In 1829, classical composer Mendelssohn found the inspiration for his Hebrides Overture there.
( ) The Marble Caves are on General Carrera Lake, in Patagonia, Chile. The caves are geological formations of incomparable beauty that consist of caverns, tunnels, and pillars created in pure marble bathed in the turquoise water of the lake. Waves have shaped the caves over the course of 6,000 years. Tourists can visit them by boat or kayak.
