​​Verbs that end in -car, -gar, and -zar have a spelling change in the YO FORM ONLY.

​Verbs like leer and caer have accents on every ending and a -y spelling change in the él, ella, usted form.

​

​Note that in the preterite the verb dar is conjugated like an -er or -ir verb.

​hacer --> hic-* poner --> pus-

​querer --> quis- poder --> pud-

​venir --> vin- saber --> sup-

​ tener --> tuv-

​ andar --> anduv-

​ estar --> estuv-

​They use their own set of endings.

​II. Note the ending -eron, not -ieron, for verbs with a j or a y.

​decir --> dijeron leer --> leyeron

​traer --> trajeron construir --> construyeron

​conducir --> condujeron

​III. Review the forms of ser and ir. Remember that they are the same in the preterite.
