The US is a constitutional republic (states have governments too) and a representative democracy (vote for leaders). Mexico is a federal constitutional republic (also vote for leaders). Social: Canada, the US, and Mexico were all colonized by European countries. Canada was settled by FRANCE and GREAT BRITAIN. That is why today Canada has two official languages (English and French).
The US was colonized by settlers from Great Britain, many of whom were seeking religious freedom (right to practice religion freely). Ideas about government, individual rights, and language were all influenced by Great Britain and shaped the United States. Many events have shaped the United States. For example, the 2001 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon have created prejudices against the Muslim community in the US, stricter travel rules, and more acts of patriotism. Mexico was home to three Mesoamerican civilizations (Olmec, Maya, and Aztec). The Spanish colonized Mexico and brought with them the mission system which taught indigenous people about Christianity and to speak Spanish.
