​Islam , the second largest religion in the world after Christianity, emerged in the Arabian after the birth of prophet Mohammad in Makkah in the year 570 AD.

​The word "Islam" means submission to the will of Allah. Its central article of faith is that " "there is no god but Allah and Mohammad is His messenger."

​Prophet Mohammad together with his followers left Makkah in 622 AD after the people of Makkah were furious with new religion. This event is known as Hijra

​622, the year of the Hijra

( A. H), marks the beginning of the Muslim calendar, which is still in use today.

​Followers of Islam are called Muslims. Mosques are places where Muslims worship. Al-Quba Mosque is the first mosque built in Yathrib, which is known as Al- Medina Al- Munawara

​The Qur'an is the major holy text of Islam. The Qur'an provides very few details about the Prophet Mohammad 's life.

​The Hadith or the saying of the Prophet provides many details about Prophet Mohammad.

​In the year 632 AD, Prophet Mohammad died in Medina. He taught Muslims to believe in the Ummah, a unified Islam world.
