​There are several videos incorporated in this lesson, so you may listen to them through headphones, quietly from your computer, or you can turn on the captions and watch that way. Just make sure to watch and follow along. :)

​These are the basic steps to solving an equation.

​Copy them down onto your paper!

​Then, you'll watch and try some examples. It'll start off with easier examples and increase in difficulty.

​Remember: You can always check your own answer!

​Just substitute the number you get in for the variable in the original equation and make sure that it makes the equation true!

Two-step equations​

Work out #1-4 on your paper. You will check your answers on the next slide. 2-step equations should be a review!​

Special Solutions

Most of our equations have just one solution (like all of the ones we've done so far), but they can sometimes have no solution or infinitely many solutions.

Literal Equations

Use inverse operations to isolate the variable! Ask yourself what steps you would take to solve if the equation had numbers instead of variables.
