Political Parties Today
Some text here about the topic of discussion
Joining a political party is one way citizens can participate in politics and influence government. Political parties welcome anyone who wishes to participate. Members can do volunteer work, such as registering citizens to vote or helping citizens get to the polls on election day. Very active members can help shape the party’s platform. Volunteers often enjoy the feeling of being involved in something that matters to them
Becoming Involved in a Political Party
Political parties want their candidates to win, and they want to win as many offices as possible. Both the Republican and Democratic Parties are organized at the national, state, and local levels to help accomplish these goals and spread their ideas. They also rely on the participation of citizens.

Political System
Today the United States has a two-party political system. Third parties appear from time to time to promote specific issues or candidates, but a third-party candidate has never been elected to the presidency.
In other countries, two-party systems are rare. Many democracies have three or more parties.
