Main Idea
A main idea is found in every nonfiction text, sometimes it is called a central idea.
The main idea is the most important idea the author conveys about the topic in the text.
Each paragraph or section of the text has a main idea that supports the overall main idea of the text.
A main idea of a nonfiction text may be called a thesis or hypothesis.
