What is the Revolutionary War?
The Revolutionary War is the war that gave the 13 colonies their independence.
The 13 colonies fought against Great Britain in the war.

What started the war?
There were two major taxes that we talked about the made the colonist really unhappy.
The first is the Sugar Act of 1764 which made the colonists pay extra for sugar and molasses.

Why did the Revolutionary War start?
The next tax that made the colonists really mad was the Stamp Act of 1765.
They had to buy a stamp for paper products like legal documents, playing cards and newspapers!
