Review from Lesson 1

As you know from Lesson 1, absolute value expressions take the value of the part inside the | | sign and find the distance from it to 0 on the number line. You also learned about how to solve linear equations in the form of:

|ax+b|=c. Today we will delve deeper into this topic and explore more forms of absolute value equations!

3

Double Absolute Value Equations

Double linear absolute value expressions come in the form of |ax+b|=|cx+d|To solve these you need to do 2 cases:

  • ax+b=cx+d

  • ax+b=-(cx+d)

And then solve for x, giving you 2 solutions.

A little bit more complex...

Now now, dont be scared... It's not THAT hard... :D

These come in a more varied form:

  1. |ax-b|=cx

  2. ax|bx-c|=dx

Now please direct your attention where the solutions will be taught. :)
