In English, we know this painting as Mona Lisa, but in France, where the painting is housed in Paris, she's known as La Jaconde.
It's believed that she is an Italian noble-woman, but no one knows for certain who the model actually is.
Da Vinci always carried this painting with him. It's painted on a panel of wood rather than canvas and is unusual because people of the time period were not painted smiling.
The Mona Lisa is known for her eyes which seem to follow you everywhere.
The painting has been stolen and defaced several times and is estimated to be worth 1 billion dollars.

Open Ended
What do you see? List at least five elements that you see in the painting.
