1
Energy Transfer- Energy is moved from one object to another. The form of energy is NOT changed.
Ex. When a bat hits a ball, the mechanical energy (motion) is transferred to the ball.
2
Heat can be transferred in three ways; conduction (touching), convection (heat moves through a gas or liquid, and radiation (travels out in waves from the source.
Some text here about the topic of discussion.
Heat:
3
When a moving ball hits a stationary ball, the stationary ball moves away and the moving ball stops. The kinetic energy is transferred to the stationary ball.
Some text here about the topic of discussion.
Collisions
4
Multiple Choice
True or False: When energy is transferred, the forms of energy are changed.
True
False
Sort of true
Do not choose this answer.
5
Multiple Choice
Which of the following is NOT a way that heat (thermal) energy can be transferred?
condensation
radiation
conduction
convection
6
Energy transformation occurs when one form of energy changes to another form.
Ex. When chemical energy of food is changed into mechanical energy as students play at recess.
7
The chemical energy in fireworks is changed to light, heat, and sound.
8
The chemical energy in the batteries is changed to light and a little bit of heat.
Flashlight
Electrical energy is transformed into heat, light, and sound. Ding!
Toaster
The sun's light energy is changed to stored chemical energy and transformed into electrical energy.
Solar Panel

Multiple Choice
______ is an example of energy transformation.
A chef burns his hand when touching a hot pan.
A car collides with a tree and knocks the tree over.
A light bulb gives off light and heat.
Pushing one domino sets off a chain reaction as each domino falls.
10
Multiple Select
A television changes electrical energy into ______. Choose 3
light energy
mechanical energy
heat energy
sound energy
nuclear energy

I can explain the difference between energy transfer and transformation.
I've got it! No problem at all!
I can give examples of both but can't explain the difference.
I can describe energy transfer or transformation but NOT both.
