Subject กับ Verb ต้องไปด้วยกัน

1) ถ้าประธานเป็นเอกพจน์ กริยาต้องเป็นเอกพจน์ด้วย คือ เติม s หรือ es ที่กริยา แต่ถ้าประธานเป็นพหูพจน์ (รวมทั้ง I และ You ) กริยาก็ต้องเป็นพหูพจน์ด้วย คือ ไม่ต้องเติม s หรือ es

2) ประธาน each หรือ every ให้ถือเป็นเอกพจน์

3) ประธานหลายคำที่เชื่อมด้วย of จะใช้กริยาเป็นเอกพจน์หรือกริยาพหูพจน์ ให้ถือเอาตามประธานที่อยู่หน้า of เป็นหลัก

4) ชื่อหนังสือ จำนวนเงิน ระยะทางและเวลา แม้จะเป็นพหูพจน์ ก็ต้องใช้กริยาเป็นเอกพจน์เสมอ
