  1. please sit in your seat and listen. No phones, headphones, talking, doing other work or you will miss important information that will not be repeated. (you can quietly ask a classmate)

  1. If you need to go to the bathroom, try to wait until directions have been given for an activity and then ask "Puedo ir al bano?" You muse sign out on eHall pass. If you don't have a computer, use your phone or someone else's computer, but log in AS YOURSELF.

Whatever info you missed while out, please ask a classmate quietly.

  2. If you have a question, raise your hand and wait until I'm ready to answer.

2

Forget it, just take a nap.

3

Quietly ask another student.

4

Walk around the class and ask who knows what we're doing.

9

Seating chart

All classes will have a seating chart.

Although students don't like seating charts, they are good for a number of reasons.

  1. I try to seat you where you will work best--where you can see, hear, and not be distracted by friends.

  2. I can take attendance quickly by seating chart.

  3. I can add participation points easily.

  4. Seating charts are recommended by many experts in education.

  5. One of the interventions that we are required to try before writing an office referral is 'seat change'.

10

seating chart, continued

As I mentioned before, if you go to a formal wedding or dinner, you will likely be given a specific place to sit, marked by a card with your name.

When you go to a concert or other big event, you have to buy a ticket for a specific seat and you will be shown where to park.

But, to change things up a little, I'm going to try a reward system this quarter. If everyone sits in their seat without an argument Monday through Thursday, Friday, AFTER ATTENDANCE, you can sit where you want....as long as you're still working and not 'playing'.

11

Open Ended

What will the (possible) reward be if the everyone in the class sits in their assigned seat every day of the week, without arguments or reminders?

12

Honestidad

I want you to pass this class, but I want you to do it honestly. That means, no copying from another classmate, EVER. And no use of translators, such as Google, other online translators, other students, etc. You may NEVER use a translator to write an entire sentence. On occasion, you may use a translator to look up a single word. But, you have a vocab list and other resources, like the posters and paintings in this room, to get help. Your goal is to LEARN the vocab on the list and to USE it. Google uses DIFFERENT WORDS and will not help you learn your vocab most of the time.

My goal is to help expand your brain and your ability to think and work independently.

13

Multiple Choice

When can you use Google (or other) translate?

1

to write a paragraph

2

to write a sentence

3

to answer vocabulary questions

4

a single word, to look up a single word

14

other times when you can use Google translate or just Google

Using Google (or other) translate to write sentences, paragraphs or even too many words in your sentence or paragraph will result in a failing grade on the assignment. So, if in doubt, don't use it!

But, if you need the spelling of a word that you already know, such as a number, you are welcome to look that up (as long as you're not taking a test)

If I ask you to describe a famous person and you don't know who s/he is, Google them to find out about them in English

If you're reading my directions in Spanish and don't understand, you may Google it if you have to.

Some text here about the topic of discussion

15

Multiple Choice

When is it ok to use Google or Google translate or other translator?

1

to help spell a word that you already know

2

to help understand directions that are in Spanish

3

To get information in English.

4

A, B, and C

16

dia, fecha, tiempo

Some of you struggled with this on the final project.

The day & date are on the Power Point and on the board every day! All you had to do was copy it!!!

Remember, that we do it BACKWARDS in the US. Everywhere else, the date goes before the month.

Please look at the date on the board.

THe weather is on p. 102 in the textbook. Use these phrases, not a translator.

Some text here about the topic of discussion

17

Fill in the Blank

Type the day & date exactly as it it written on the board

18

Fill in the Blank

Give the weather in a sentence (always) from p. 102.

19

headings on your papers

Although most work will be done on Schoology, when you do hand in a paper, it must have the proper heading in order to be graded on time.

  1. at the TOP right of the paper (so I don't have to search for it)

give me your FIRST and LAST name. (For Kahoots & other digital things, I need your first name and at least your last initial.

  2. the date in Spanish, for practice

  3. the hour, sometimes papers get into the wrong folder

Some text here about the topic of discussion

20

Multiple Choice

WHat should your paper's heading consist of?

1

It can be anywhere on the paper.

2

It must be in the top right side of the paper.

3
