  • When you send information (email, chat, etc) regarding a student include ONLY one identifier.  

    • This includes name, student number, date of birth, etc

  • If further information is needed, we will reach out through a second email/chat chain for that information.

Social Media:

  • Parents have the ability to opt out of directory information...this process is now managed by DPI through the ParentPortal, so more parents are opting out

  • BEFORE posting a photo tied to a name you must verify with the Data Manager that that information can be shared publicly

Who can you tell about a student?

  • Confidential information must only be shared with CUSTODIAL GUARDIANS

    • Custodial Guardians are the parents on the birth certificate unless court/DSS paperwork is also available

  • Working to ensure PowerSchool contacts page is correct

Student data privacy is something we need to be aware of

  • There is a cost to free

  • Only share appropriate info with appropriate people

Only use tools that protect students
