What does counselling help with?

11

A Spiritual Counselling Session:

  • Contrition - the state of feeling sorry for what you have done.

  • Confession - the priest helps you to confess. You apologise through a prayer (Act of Contrition) and promise to change your ways.

  • Absolution - a prayer transfers the grace of forgiveness as the priest prays over you, representing Christ (in Persona Christi)

  • Penance - the priest gives you a task to do or a prayer to say in order to repair the damage you have caused to yourself, God and/or others.
