It cannot be constructed like it is in English:
[Noun] + 's Maru's
It's Maru's diary.
It is constructed like:
[Noun] + de + [owner]
Es el diario de Maru.
Ser expressing possession
- ¿De quién son?
Whose are they?
- Son los lápices de la chica.
They are the girl´s pencils.

Unlike English, Spanish does not use the definite article (un, una) after ser when talking about professions UNLESS it is accompanied by an adjective or other description. It can look like the examples below:
Examples:
Maria es profesora.
Maria is a teacher.
Maria es una profesora excelente.
Maria is an excellent teacher.
